Rocksteady has finally fully unveiled its Suicide Squad game, dubbed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. It’s the team’s first title since 2015’s Arkham Knight. The developer revealed this title at the DC FanDome and showed off some footage of it in action. The release date is sometime in 2022 for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
The game will let players play as certain members of the Suicide Squad. These characters are Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark but it’s unclear how many other members (if any) will be playable. It is rumored to take place in the same universe as the recently announced Gotham Knights, but the trailer didn’t confirm either way. The trailer showed the four characters in question along with an evil version of Superman, which some fans spotted from the initial reveal.
Rocksteady Creative Director Sefton Hill spoke vaguely about the game afterwards, but didn’t divulge many specific details aside from “superhero empowerment” and “really awesome gunplay.” You can play solo or up to four-player co-op and you are never locked to any one character.
Rumors for the Suicide Squad game weren’t nearly as prevalent as WB Montreal’s title, but they were still out there. While some of the dates were incorrect, rumors of this alleged Suicide Squad title were popping up in 2019 and were corroborated by a few different people. Rocksteady then randomly confirmed the game’s existence via a simple tweet on August 7, 2020.
