Xbox One X sales skyrocket during Series X pre-orders

It’s finally done. Granted that you don’t drown in errors, you can finally pre-order both next-gen consoles. And while the PS4 and PS5 are pretty distinguishable, the Xbox One X, Xbox One S, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S don’t quite have that luxury, especially if you aren’t completely tuned in. Some of that confusion may have happened today as Amazon sales for the Xbox One X has jumped significantly as Series X pre-orders went live.

Xbox One X sales skyrocket during Series X pre-orders

As pointed out by Andrew Alerts, the online retailer showed that the Xbox One X model jumped 747% and into fourth place into Amazon’s Movers and Shakers category of items with big sales gains. It has fallen a bit since — a 431% increase — but it is still up in that hot category.

It’s entirely possible that people want a slightly cheaper Xbox, but it’s also a little more likely that these could be confused Series X hopefuls that grabbed the wrong box. Microsoft is often criticized for the naming of its consoles as it is very easy to mix them up, given the “Xbox ____ X/S” naming convention and how “S” and “X” sound pretty similar. Hopefully, more people will realize their mistake if that is the case, including grandpa or grandma who may have just gotten a little confused in their video game shopping.
