Earlier this year, I wandered the Game Developers Conference floor looking for something, anything to capture my attention in the fields of indie games ripening for release and Super Motherload did the trick. Now, I have even more reason to anticipate Sony's PlayStation 4 launch.
Super Motherload will touch down on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on November 15th for $14.99 with Cross-Buy support for indie fans who might be waiting to jump to next gen.
If you didn't catch my preview from GDC, Super Motherload tasks up to four players with exploring the depths of Mars in their very own flying, drilling rover. Players can upgrade their rig, unearth valuable resources, and reach unknown depths in the martian planet. XGen has some fancy features for PS4 owners too.
The Dualshock 4's touch pad will allow players faster puzzle play. Instead of selecting bombs with the L1 and R1 buttons, quick swipes on the touch pad will select different types while pushing the touch pad will quickly select the Electron Bomb. Super Motherload will also take advantage of Dualshock 4's light bar by color-matching players with their on-screen pods.
With just a few weeks to release, PlayStation 4's indie promise has already been made good in my eyes. Get a taste of PS4 gameplay and Super Motherload's kick ass soundtrack in the trailer above.
PC gamers, XGen's game has been Greenlit on Steam, but we'll bring you news of release on that platform as soon as we have it.
