Developer Monolith is working on a new Lord of the Rings game for both current and next-gen consoles. Titled Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, this third-person action game puts you in the shoes of a Ranger whose family was murdered by Sauron's forces.
After being killed himself, the Ranger is then brought back to life with the abilities of a Wraith and is out for a bit of revenge. While the plot doesn't follow the story of the books, it will fit within the narrative in a faithful way, Warner Bros. has assured gamers.
"Players will explore the dark and very personal theme of vengeance in a world where decisions have a consequence, and those consequences persist even after death," Samantha Ryan from Warner Bros. explained. "The game introduces new gameplay mechanics to the action genre, creating opportunities for emergent and customized gameplay that will be rewarding for players."
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 at some point in the future. Yeah, we have no idea when this game is coming out yet. As such, stay tuned to GameRevolution for future updates.
