Battlefield mobile is a full standalone game coming 2022

EA and DICE had some big news for fans of the Battlefield series this week, as along with the confirmation of Battlefield 6 for this year DICE also announced that a new Battlefield mobile game was in development. This new Battlefield iOS and Android game is being made by Industrial Toys and will be a “fully-fledged, skill-based experience” for mobile.

Battlefield Mobile release date: everything we know

The Battlefield mobile game release date is currently confirmed for 2022, although there is no specific date currently so it’s unclear if that means early, mid, or late in the year.

All the info we have on the Battlefield mobile reveal was released in a blog post on EA’s website by Oskar Gabrielson, the General Manager at DICE, which also promised that more details on both Battlefield mobile and Battlefield 6 were coming “soon.”

The Battlefield mobile game is coming to iOS and Android smartphones and tablets and is apparently already entering its first wave of testing, so development is presumably quite far ahead. The game is being made by Industrial Toys, the team behind the mobile shooter title Midnight Star and its follow-up, which was acquired by EA in 2018. The developer will apparently be “working closely” with the main Battlefield team at DICE on Battlefield mobile, which will be a completely new, standalone game in the series “being built from the ground up” specifically for mobile platforms.

As for DICE itself, it has its “biggest team ever” working on Battlefield 6 for release in holiday 2021. More information on the Battlefield mobile game release date and Battlefield 6 is promised soon and will most likely appear at the EA Play event this summer, as EA is not currently confirmed to be attending E3.

In the meantime, Battlefield’s main competitor Call of Duty already has a popular mobile title that continues to receive regular updates.
