Hello Games has revealed that Prisms includes new visual features and technologies, explaining that “the universe has never looked better” with this brand new patch. While there are more tangible editions such as flying pets, it is predominantly focused on improving the overall look of the 2016 game.

The patch notes include:

  • Reflections
  • Fur
  • Flying Pets
  • Crystal ball
  • Refractions
  • Rain + Weather
  • More Stars
  • Bytebeat Expansion
  • Parallax Occlusion Mapping
  • New Warp Effects
  • Improved Photo Mode
  • New Particle Effects
  • Improved Light Shafts
  • DLSS
  • Increased Biome Detail

No Man’s Sky has received a ton of updates since its launch, including a Next Generation update that already enhanced its visuals and upgraded its performance for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Prisms represents its next sizeable step forward, with broad improvements that include creature fur, better lighting, new texture and warp effects, reflections, and more.

These notable tweaks ensure that No Man’s Sky’s already impressive universe looks better than ever before. By supporting screen space reflection (SSR) technology on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One X, reflective surfaces are now present throughout the world while lighting quality has been improved in the Space Anomaly and its various ships, hangars, and freighters.

The game has also received brand new volumetric lighting styles, adding colored and directional volumetrics to improve the atmosphere of its universe. This improves things like Sentinel drones’ searchlights and the glow of flora.

Flying pets have also been added, with players now able to mount the likes of giant beetles and butterflies and make them their companions in what will certainly add some goofy fun to the sandbox.

It’s all big changes for No Man’s Sky as Hello Games continues to supply its wide community with free updates years after its launch. The update is now available to download across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, and Xbox One.

In other news, it was recently revealed that Far Cry 6 won’t be a sequel or prequel to the previous games. A new Biomutant update also added an Extreme difficulty mode (and turned down its Narrator).
