Xbox, Nike, and Space Jam have formed an unlikely collaboration in honor of the upcoming animated and live-action sequel, teaming up to offer a custom Xbox controller and star LeBron James’ 18 Low basketball shoes.
The unusual pairing has been brought about by Nike designer Jason Petrie and Xbox’s principal designer Elliott Hsu, who have teamed up to create a unique design that celebrates the upcoming Looney Tunes film Space Jam: A New Legacy. This includes a brand new Xbox controller, which features a cartoon design including its d-pad being transformed into an ACME-branded bomb.
But the Nike x Xbox x Space Jam controller is but one design emblematic of the Xbox team’s partnership with the movie. Three other wireless controllers also appeared last week these with no Nike affiliation and firmly focused on A New Legacy. These three designs are inspired by the movie’s two competing teams, the villainous Goon Squad and the Looney Tunes’ Tune Squad, along with the world the film is set in, branded the Serververse. These were announced alongside Space Jam: A New Legacy The Game, a free film tie-in that will be released on July 1 for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, and July 15 for everyone else via the Xbox Store.
