Injustice red band trailer

Injustice red band trailer shows off Superman’s dark side

The red band trailer for the upcoming DC Comics animation Injustice is out now. The movie is based on the fighting games of the same name and follows the plot of the 2013 entry. It tracks a scenario where Superman, driven to murder by the Joker, turns into a superpowered authoritarian dictator. If that sounds like a bloody prospect, then you’re right. This red band trailer pumps up the gore. Excitingly, it also gives us a release date to look forward to.

Injustice red band trailer out now

Injustice red band trailer

The Injustice red band trailer dropped late last night, and it’s got everything that fans of the games would hope for. From Superman ripping Joker’s heart out of his chest to Justice League members at each other’s throats, it adapts the game faithfully.

This is a DC universe with the Justice League torn apart and at its knees. Heroes like Batman and Green Lantern are acutely aware of Superman’s increasingly fragile mental state, but as the trailer shows, their efforts to intervene are fruitless. Metropolis lies in tatters, Superman is without his wife and unborn child, and the only one left laughing is the Joker.

And this version of beloved DC characters certainly isn’t for kids, either. If scenes of Joker mocking Superman while the Kryptonian has his arm rammed through the clown’s chest doesn’t prove it, then know the Injustice movie will be a hard R. Interestingly, it seems like the film won’t tackle the multiverse concept seen in the games. In NetherRealm’s 2013 original, a fatigued Batman summons heroes from other dimensions to help stop Superman, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Injustice movie release date

The best news is that DC fans don’t have long to wait to watch the Injustice movie. Its release date is October 19, 2021, on digital and physical media. It’ll be less than a month until you can see Superman’s gruesome descent into evil.

In other news, our review of Lost Judgement is out now. We’ve also got our first impressions from the recent hands-on preview of Guardians of the Galaxy.
