Back 4 Blood is first and foremost a cooperative online shooter. Despite that, a lot of people were looking forward to playing the game solo with bots as teammates. While it is possible to consume B4B as a single-player experience, in doing so, users lock themselves out of important features. Players are noticing Back 4 Blood Achievements and Trophies not unlocking, along with no in-game currency payouts when playing alone.
How to fix Back 4 Blood Achievements and Trophies not unlocking
In order to unlock the Back 4 Blood Achievements and Trophies, users need to play the campaign in online multiplayer. The same goes for earning B4B’s in-game currency rewards.
While most games encourage players to engage with them in the “right” way, some believe that this is a step too far. In a Reddit thread criticizing the apparent lack of solo progression, u/This-is-the-ende chimes in to say that Back 4 Blood “knee caps solo play” versus opting instead for online multiplayer. The absence of Achievement/Trophy and in-game currency rewards make it hard to argue otherwise, even if a majority do believe that co-op is the best way to play.
It isn’t entirely clear why Turtle Rock would choose to impose such restrictions on solo players, providing, of course, that this is intentional. If anything, playing Back 4 Blood with bots is harder than teaming up with other humans online; there’s even an argument to make for solo rewards being higher there.
Regardless, B4B fans that want to unlock Achievements, Trophies, and in-game currency will need to venture online. For those without friends that play the game, although it isn’t ideal, there is matchmaking to find random players. Hopefully, Back 4 Blood will receive a patch putting solo players on level pegging with online users in the future.
