Here’s how to play Halo Infinite’s multiplayer right now

The Halo Infinite multiplayer beta is out right now, with the game’s MP component having been the subject of a surprise release during Xbox’s 20th-anniversary celebrations. While it will still be in its beta phases, this is the full multiplayer experience, despite rumors that only a demo or another flight test would be deployed today. Here’s how to download and play the multiplayer right now for free.

How to download and play Halo Infinite multiplayer

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer component can be downloaded either via Xbox’s online storefronts or via Steam. It’s free-to-play across the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC platforms, with its download size clocking in at just under 24GB.

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer release was announced during the Xbox 20 celebration presentation, with preloads for the multiplayer component going live before the event. The presentation also included the reveal of an upcoming live-action Paramount Plus series based on the sci-fi franchise, also titled Halo.

Xbox also revealed that any progress earned during the game’s beta period would be carried over to the full release on December 8, 2021, which includes the FPS’s campaign mode. This will continue the shooter’s first season, branded ‘Heroes of Reach,’ after its single-player mode is implemented in the game. Its multiplayer launching ahead of schedule is a huge move for Xbox, bringing Halo Infinite’s release closer to the recent launches of major shooters Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042. It remains to be seen if pushing its multiplayer live before its scheduled release will work in Halo Infinite’s favor, but the continued success of Game Pass has routinely led to some unusual success stories for Xbox.
