Nintendo has renewed the trademark for Metroid Prime, igniting excitement for a Retro-developed fourth entry for Wii U.
The trademark (via NeoGAF) was registered and renewed a few months back on August 13th. While this by no means is confirmation that a new Metroid Prime is in development, it sure has Samus fans like myself giddy with excitement at the prospect. And if it is real, Retro Studios better be the team developing it.
During VGX, Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime appeared to show off Retro Studios' upcoming Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, but was also adorned with a Metroid pin. Could he have been hinting at an impending announcement pertaining to the space-traveling bounty hunter? I just really hope it's a fully-fledged Wii U game and not a classic 2D side-scroller for 3DS.
