A Metroid Prime remaster has finally been announced by Nintendo, and it launches digitally on Nintendo Switch today.
The announcement comes after years of rumors based on the existence of ports of the original Metroid Prime trilogy. With Metroid Prime 4 restarting development in 2019, now is the perfect time for that.
The Metroid Prime Remaster is out now
As previously mentioned, Nintendo shadow-dropped the Metroid Prime remaster during the show digitally, while announcing that a physical release for the game will be coming on February 22nd, 2023. This new version of the classic title introduces new control schemes and is the first dive into the original game since Metroid Prime was re-released as part of the Metroid Prime trilogy on Wii back in 2009.
It’s unclear currently as to whether or not this is part of a full trilogy of remasters, with the other two games to come later, or if Metroid Prime Remastered is a stand-alone release to gauge the interest from fans. There’s also no sign of Metroid Prime 4, so it’s unclear how development is coming along on that front either.
