Microsoft removed Twitter sharing of Game DVR clips and screenshots on Xbox consoles in the Alpha and Alpha – Skip Ahead Insider Ring update at the start of this month. The decision attracted a fair amount of criticism from players who used the feature regularly, so now the its has been reverted and Twitter sharing has been restored again.
Xbox Insider Beta Ring March 30 Patch Notes
With the introduction of the March 30 Xbox Insider Beta Ring update, players will now see the option to share their game clips and screenshots on Twitter once again. At the time the change was made, it was unknown whether this was a deliberate change or a mistake as Twitter sharing wasn’t mentioned in the Xbox Insider Ring patch notes. As spotted by Eurogamer, Xbox Insider program lead Brad Rosetti confirmed the change was deliberate and they have reverted the decision as a result of feedback from players. Other changes for Beta ring included a fix for times when a Guest profile could not be connected to play local multiplayer and more alterations for language localization.
Other rings have also received updates this week. Omega, Delta, Alpha, and Alpha – Skip Ahead also received optimizations to “properly reflect local languages across the console,” although all are still subject to some “odd” text that may still appear, usually text that is still waiting to be translated into the correct language. Those suffering from stuttering playback issues in streaming apps like Netflix on Alpha – Skip Ahead will also find playback is much smoother.
In other news, E3 2022 has been canceled this year so there will not be an in-person event or digital streams. The event intends to return in 2023 with a much greater presence. Elsewhere, Microsoft is apparently intending to introduce an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan with various tiers that will allow up to five people to be included in one membership.
