New Star Wars Game

New Star Wars Game in Development at Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media

Skydance New Media, the developer helmed by former Uncharted creative director and writer Amy Hennig, has announced that it is working on a new Star Wars game in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. The narrative-driven, action-adventure title will showcase an original story in the Star Wars universe.

What do we know so far about this new Star Wars game?

In a statement on the developer’s website, Hennig shares that she is thrilled to be able to create another title with Lucasfilm Games, with the new Star Wars game being the second collaboration between Skydance New Media and Disney announced so far:

“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly. I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”

Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games, is excited to work with Hennig as well after both studios previously announced that they are working together on a new Marvel game:

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure.

Their vision for making narrative driven and engaging interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talent developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”

Hennig’s accomplishments include being the director and writer for several Legacy of Kain games with Crystal Dynamics and the creative director and writer for multiple Uncharted games by Naughty Dog. She is also a writer for the upcoming Square Enix game Forspoken. In fact, along with fellow Forspoken writer Todd Stashwick, Hennig had worked on EA’s cancelled Project Ragtag for two years at Visceral Games.

Hennig leads Skydance New Media alongside Julian Beak, a former EA executive with extensive experience working on the Star Wars franchise.

In other news, Battlefield 2042 has received a 4.0 update that finally adds in-game voice chat, and Halo Infinite’s Season 2 maps Breaker and Catalyst have been showcased in a gorgeous trailer.
