The Dead Space remake is coming sooner than we thought, and it won’t be long before we board the USG Ishimura for another rendition of Issac Clarke’s perilous (and futile) journey to save his fiancee. The team at Motive Studio announced the release date during a recent developer livestream showcasing the art of the remake. We can expect to return to the planet cracker early next year.
The Dead Space remake is releasing in early 2023
The Dead Space remake release date is January 27, 2023. In addition to announcing when the game will come out, the stream contained some very interesting looks at how the developers are changing various environments in the remake while remaining true to the original. So, anyone curious about the design process should watch through the whole hour+ stream.
We also now know when we’ll be getting a full gameplay reveal. Motive plans to give an in-depth look at the game in October, just in time for Halloween. Considering that the game has only been in development for around two years, we’re seeing a quick turnaround time. It’s likely because it seems to be a relatively faithful recreation of the original game in the same vein as the Resident Evil 2 remake.
Having recently replayed Dead Space, I’m glad Motive is taking a straightforward approach to the remake. The original holds up really well outside of slightly aged graphics and a few nitpicks (zero-G gameplay). At least on PC, the biggest pain is that it’s not very stable. So, it’ll be nice to play it at a decent resolution and framerate without worrying about crashes or weird physics bugs. Hopefully, it’ll lead to a revitalization of the series and a remake of Dead Space 2.
In other news, Starfield and Redfall have been delayed into 2023, and Pokemon Arceus: Legends sold 12 million copies in 3 months.
