Sniper Elite 5 launched today on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through the Windows Store and Steam. However, there was one platform notably missing from that list, as the Epic Games Store version of the game was mysteriously delayed on Monday without reason.
Sniper Elite 5 delayed on Epic Games Store
Neither Rebellion nor Epic has given a reason for the delay of Sniper Elite 5 on the Epic Games Store. Players discovered the cancellation when they received emails stating the game had “been postponed”. One of the messages posted on Reddit states there is not a new release date at the moment:
“Thank you for your recent pre-purchase of Sniper Elite 5. Due to unforeseen circumstances the release on the Epic Games Store has been postponed and we don’t have a new release date at this time. Because of the delay, we are cancelling your pre-purchase and refunding you the full amount.”
The Epic Game Store game page simply states Sniper Elite 5 is coming soon. Rebellion says those who had pre-ordered the game from the store but have not received an email can reach out to Epic Games for a refund. For now, PC players can purchase the game through Steam or the Windows Store. Alternatively, those with a PC Game Pass subscription can play the game for free through that service starting today, May 26. Our review is currently in progress but does describe the game as “a safe sequel rescued by the Invasion Mode” and “a marked improvement over Sniper Elite 4”.
In other news, Xbox Series X players can finally play Call of Duty: Warzone in 120Hz again after this week’s update added the option back into the game. Elsewhere, a new V Rising update has added the option to play the game offline, as well as fixing several player exploits.
