Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Pre-Order

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Pre-Orders Available on PC, PS5, and Xbox

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has gotten its first gameplay trailer today alongside the first real details of its campaign, multiplayer, Spec Ops mode, and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 integration. Those wanting to pre-order MW2 can do so right now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Battle.net. PC players who prefer Steam will be glad to know there will also be a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Steam version to pre-order for the first time in five years.

How to pre-order CoD: MW2

Players can pre-order Modern Warfare 2 on all platforms now both digitally and at retail ahead of its release date on October 28. There are three different Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 editions for pre-order, including the expected standard edition. Console players can also consider the Cross-Gen bundle that will offer access to both the PS5 and PS4 versions for PlayStation players or Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One versions for Xbox players. Both of these editions come with early access to the multiplayer Open Beta and “other instant rewards” that are yet to be revealed. Those who take out their Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 pre-order through the Warzone, Vanguard, Black Ops Cold War, or Modern Warfare in-game stores will get 10 Hours of Double XP Tokens and 10 Hours of Double Weapon XP Tokens to use in MW2 too.

The premium edition of the game is the Vault Edition. This includes the cross-gen bundle as well as a bunch of digital goodies including the Season 1 Battle Pass and 50 Tier Skips, Red Team 141 Operator Pack, FJX Cinder Weapon Vault, and the Ghost Legacy Pack. Red Team 141 is a pack of four multiplayer Operators — Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap —each with a Ghost-themed masked outfit. Meanwhile, the Ghost Legacy Pack offers ten Ghost Operator skins and 10 Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprints for use in COD Modern Warfare and Warzone right now. More details on the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault are promised later.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gameplay goes globetrotting

The sequel to 2019’s COD Modern Warfare takes the five members of Task Force 141 on a globe-trotting operation that includes missions across the world. The experience promises to include “offshore sieges with underwater combat, all-out explosive assaults from 30,000 feet above enemy strongholds, and high-stakes, low-profile stealth missions in both plain sight and under the cover of darkness” as the Operators travel across Europe, Asia, and America.

Once players have finished the COD MW2 campaign, a narrative-driven, co-op Special Ops experience offers a more tactical experience that will put players’ team-building skills to the test. Details on this mode are a bit scarce at the moment, but it is supposed to prepare players for the multiplayer modes. However, both the campaign and Spec Ops modes will benefit from a more advanced AI system that will “act tactically using combat and cover maneuvering techniques that would be second nature to a Tier 1 Operator.”

Infinity Ward and Activision refused to elaborate on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer weapons, Operators, maps, or modes, but did say Gunsmith had been revamped to offer more customization options “than ever before”. There will be plenty of free post-launch content too in the form of maps, modes, and special events. After launch but sometime before the end of the year, the game will also be integrated with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, with more details on this coming soon.

In other news, a Nintendo Direct is rumored for June 15. Elsewhere, Minecraft Dungeons got its latest update today and removed several mission progress blockers.
