A Forza Motorsport 8 gameplay trailer was finally revealed at today’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, along with a release window. It’s been five years since Forza Motorsport 7 was released, and fans are ready to see what the refreshed racing sim has to offer.
Forza Motorsport 8 release window and gameplay trailer revealed
Forza Motorsport 8 will release in Spring 2023. The game will be available on Xbox consoles, PC, and via Xbox Game Streaming. The series was previously on a two-year development cycle, alternating with Forza Horizon. However, Turn 10 used the extra time to overhaul the ForzaTech engine to increase fidelity and add next-gen features like ray-tracing. As such, the studio considers it a reboot of the series (hence them calling it “Forza Motorsport”).
Forza Motorsport 8 was first revealed at Xbox Games Showcase in 2020. Since then, there have been a few closed playtests, but we haven’t gotten a lot of solid news since then. Fortunately, the cat is out of the bag now, and we know when we can expect a release date to fall. Hopefully, there’ll be an open playtest at some point before launch so we can get a peek at what’s in store for us.
Given that Gran Turismo 7 has turned players off with its lack of content and obscene grind, the sooner a new Forza Motorsport comes out, the better. Forza Horizon is great for arcade-style racing, but those who are into something a bit more realistic don’t have many options that don’t feature rampant monetization in one form or another. It features a new damage model and looks incredible. However, our biggest question, how many cars are in it, will have to wait for now.
Fortunately, like other first-party Xbox Game Studio titles, Forza Motorsports 8 will be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and streaming via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
