Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Closed Beta

Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis Closed Beta Announced

Square Enix has revealed that the Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis closed beta will be arriving later in 2022 for iOS and Android during the Final Fantasy 7 25th Anniversary Celebration livesteram. This upcoming RPG is also slated to release some time in 2022, with the first episode reportedly arriving at the end of September 2022. If true, this closed beta will likely arrive sooner than we think, although details on the exact date and sign-up procedure for the Ever Crisis closed beta are still unknown.

What we know so far about Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis

Developed by Applibot and published by Square Enix, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is an upcoming free-to-play episodic retelling of the timeline of Final Fantasy 7 and the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7. For those who don’t know about the Compilation, it includes Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, and the Advent Children movie. While the story will be told through a nostalgic, deformed graphical style, combat will be more akin to the 3D rendering of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and will feature an Active Time Battle System as a callback to the original game.

Ever Crisis isn’t a straightforward remake and includes new scenarios and vignettes that incorporate the backstory of Final Fantasy 7 The First Soldier and some pieces of the childhood origin stories for a number of Final Fantasy 7 characters. Players will be able to select chapters from a timeline in whatever order they want, with additional monthly episodes expanding the story with more content. This looks to be a great way for new fans to get into the FF7 series of games and for longtime fans to learn lore they haven’t seen before.

While the Ever Crisis release window is still only 2022 on the official website, it was revealed in early May through a tweet that the first episode of the game would reportedly arrive “by the end of September 2022,” according to the president of CyberAgent.

In other news, the Overwatch 2 beta sign-up begins today but not for Nintendo Switch, and Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 4 will bring back round-based Zombies mode.
