[Update] Originally reported that Definitive Edition will not include the DLC, but multiple sources report that that all DLC will be included in this edition as well. Changes have been made to the original article.
[Original] On January 28, Tomb Raider will re-release in two forms: the Definitive Edition and the Game of the Year Edition. But it might be a toss-up as to which version you may want; that is, if you don't already own the action title, which our very own Daniel Bischoff gave 4.5 stars in his review.
The Definitive Edition is a remake exclusive for next-gen consoles, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Alas, there are unfortunately no plans for a PC version and thereby no opportunity for a Steam discount. Available for $59.99, it promises to upgrade the textures and lighting of the original game. However, the Game of the Year version for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is nothing to scoff at, either. Though it won't be as graphically impressive, it only costs $29.99. Both versions come with all of the downloadable content. It's not certain how many pieces of DLC that includes, but if we count the downloadable content currently available, that comes to about $60 (that's a $90 value!) with all the additional outfits, multiplayer map packs, and single-player campaign additions.
I'm also not sure why Tomb Raider couldn't be a part of that nifty $10 next-gen upgrade deal. Either way, I'm going to feel guilty if I don't play Tomb Raider in the next three months. (Thanks, Square Enix…)
