PlayStation Vita Games You Missed In 2013
-
Dead or Alive 5 Plus
[Review] - Released March 19th, 2013
rn
rnTeam Ninja ported their fighter down to portable size, but threw everything they had at the new handheld and came up with the complete package. All the characters, the feature complete storyline, versus and online modes, and Touch Play Mode where you hold the Vita sideways, get a full screen picture of your opponent, and touch away. -
Doki Doki Universe
[Review] - Released December 3rd, 2013
rn
rnThis indie game sends players to far off places in the hopes that they’ll learn something on the journey there and back. Mail allows you to communicate with other players but you’ll quickly find that Doki Doki Universe is as much a reflection of yourself as it is a foreign, hand-drawn land. -
Dokuro
[Game] - Released October 16th, 2013
rn
rnDokuro’s highly stylized world and unique art direction give players a new turn on a classic platformer premise. The dark lord forces a princess to marry him, so players will have to help Dokuro help the princess escape a castle, rather than rescue her from one. We missed this game when it originally released but look for it on PSN with a holiday gift card in hand. -
Guacamelee!
[Review] - Released April 9th, 2013
rn
rnFans of 2D action games can look no further than Guacamelee for an excellent spin on Metroid-vania style exploration and luchadore combat on PlayStation Vita. Drinkbox Studios are a gamer’s developer. They’ve packed in tons of in-jokes and winks to the player while also creating an entertaining series of challenges and puzzles. This game is also cross-buy enabled so buying a copy on PS3 or Vita also nets you a download on the other. -
Killzone: Mercenary
[Review] - Released September 10th, 2013
rn
rnKillzone Mercenary lets players walk between Vektan and Helghan lines, get paid, and potentially, get drunk at the pub after with your friends playing multiplayer. That is, if you take this full-featured Killzone game out with you. With the Vita’s dual analog sticks, it’d be worth it to try Killzone’s campaign and hop online with some friends especially if you can nab it on sale now. -
Muramasa Rebirth
[Review] - Released June 25th, 2013
rn
rnUnless you owned a Wii from launch or gathered up the system’s best, most hard-to-find games recently, you probably haven’t played Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Muramasa Rebirth brought the experience to PlayStation Vita in stunning beauty and complete with signature side-scrolling combat. Fans of Dragon’s Crown on PS3 or Vita and new Vita owners everywhere should add this to their list of must-play titles they may have missed. -
PlayStation Vita Games You Missed In 2013
Now's as good a time as any to pick up a PlayStation Vita and enjoy a healthy library of games. Sure, Sony's handheld hasn't gotten the greatest volume of new releases, but it will get a major shot in the arm with PlayStation Now. Until that service becomes available, here are 10 Vita games you didn't play in 2013. -
Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2
[Hands-On] - Released December 17th, 2013
rn
rnGaijin Games, the brains behind the Bit.Trip series, return to the go-fast genre with Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. The title is a mouthful, but if you pick this game up on Vita with a PSN gift card, your hands will be full of tons of fast-paced action. I don’t think I could ever master every stage in Runner2. -
Tearaway
[Review] - Released November 22nd, 2013
rn
rnMedia Molecule followed LittleBigPlanet with Tearaway, a showcase of Vita features and MM wit. Narration and story and characters Iota and Atoi were only really held by by the users ability to go react intuitively. Touching on both the front and the rear Vita surfaces would allow players to put themselves in the game. Look out for the sun! -
Ys: Memories of Celceta
[Review] - Released November 26th, 2013 rn rnXSEED and Falcom bring even more Ys to American audiences. If you aren’t a fan of Japanese games, what are you doing with a Vita? This machine was made for epic struggles of good and evil, and dozens of hours of gameplay. -
Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov\'s Revenge
[Game] - Released December 9th, 2013
rn
rnNormally we’d say you’d have a bad time if the Zombies took over, but in Zombie Tycoon II, you and the zombies kind of want to accomplish the same thing. World domination is just a few brains away, right? Those guys on The Walking Dead wouldn’t know what hit them if you could command the zombie forces up against them.
