Nintendo has revealed the Splatoon 3 hosts as Deep Cut, a popular trio comprised of Frye, Shiver, and the manta ray Big Man. Revealed in the latest 30-minute Nintendo Direct presentation specifically made for Splatoon 3, the trio will replace prior hosts Callie and Marie (aka Squid Sisters) from the first Splatoon as well as Pearl and Marina (aka Off the Hook) from the second game in the series.
How the new Splatoon 3 hosts Deep Cut will be featured
Deep Cut, otherwise known as “The Deep Cut Trio,” will be news anchors for the Splatsville news program Anarchy Splatcast, providing information and commentary on any battle stages and news bulletins. And for the first time in the series, these updates can be read on the fly as you explore the ink-filled streets of Splatsville, the main hub of the game. A separate musical trailer posted above features the members of Deep Cut dancing on top of platforms in a parade and inviting players to get in on the fun.
In the Nintendo Direct, Deep Cut interrupts the narrator after the presentation is seemingly done, with the group a bit angry that it was almost forgotten. Donning various masks, they reveal themselves as the main gang residing over Splatsville, labeling the city as their turf and saying that no one else is allowed to loot there, except them of course.
The Anarchy Splatcast is broadcast in the game like a livestream with the trio commentating in a studio. The presentation sees Frye and Shiver provide info on the current battle stage, while Big Man holds up the large TV beside them. These stages include regular Turf War battles as well as anarchy battles, in a series or open format, with variations like Rainmaker and Splat Zones. Pressing down the left thumbstick will allow you to listen to the Splatcast. (That said, how soon can we get a Big Man plushie?)
In other news, here is a stages list for Splatoon 3, noting that more stages will be included in post-launch DLC, and The Walking Dead season 11 part 3 will finally address smart zombies in the series.
