Neill Blomkamp, the director behind the critical darling District 9 and last year's Elysium, will reportedly direct the pilot episode of Steven Spielberg's Halo television series.
According to Latino-Review, the man who was once set to create a film with Peter Jackson set in Microsoft's iconic universe (that was eventually scrapped) will once again return to the franchise to work on the first episode of 343 Industries' upcoming Xbox One-exclusive TV show. Color me excited.
Blomkamp not too long ago admitted that he would be interested in working on a Halo-related film project so long as he had the creative freedom to make something true to his vision. Perhaps he and Microsoft have come to some sort of agreement.
343 Industries has yet to make an official comment on this matter, so treat this as mere rumor until we receive an update from the studio.
