The Problem With Steam Machines Is Linux-Based SteamOS, According to Pachter

When Valve announced Steam Machines, many were concerned about the slew of different models that will be available to consumers. With so many different options and price schemes, it seems as though it may be bit muddled and perhaps problematic for Valve's new software platform.

However, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter believes the bigger issue lies within SteamOS, namely that it is Linux based and not built using Microsoft's operating system.

"I don't think the number of models is Valve's problem. I think the SteamOS is the problem. I think making it Linux based is going to keep a lot of content off of the device until there is a large install base," Pachter explained on the latest episode of Pach Attack!

Do you think Valve should have gone with a Windows-based operating system instead?
