[Update]: Nintendo announced the release date of Mario Kart 8 during today's Nintendo Direct. The beloved racing franchise will make its Wii U debut on May 30th.
[Original]: Nintendo's Wii U console might be struggling to gain traction with gamers and the audience that promoted Wii sales into the stratosphere, but an old favorite is about to lap us. With Mario Kart 8, Nintendo hopes to further deliver on the HD dreams fans have had for years.
Check out the trailer above to form your own opinion. The graphical effects, burning rubber, and zany courses people know and love Mario Kart for seem to have gotten a new facelift. Mario Kart 8's character models, go-karts, motorbikes, and upside-down track designs look gorgeous in this trailer, but now I want to see more uncut gameplay.
The lush jungles, concrete race tracks, flmaing exhaust pipes, and magnetically charged hover-pads all look like they bring Mario Kart 8 to fans in stunning HD but there is so much more we need to know about the game!
How many tracks will come in the package? Will older "classic" tracks return and have they been redesigned in anyway to take advantage of the new kart-tech in Mario Kart 8? How many players can play online together?
Will have more on Mario Kart 8 as we near release. Click the title to visit our game page for more and our hands-on preview from E3.
