A Game Developers Conference poll has revealed that only four percent of surveyed developers have plans to release their next title on Wii U.
To put this into perspective, 20 percent are planning to release on PlayStation 4 release and 17 percent intend to launch their next game on Microsoft's console. A total of 2,600 North American game developers were surveyed.
It should come as no surprise that the bulk of development is being geared toward games on PC, smartphones, and tablets. Considering the rise of indie development, it only makes sense for those with limited resources and small budgets to focus on these particular markets.
This data doesn't really confirm anything new, but rather reinforces the fact that Nintendo is really going to have to bring quality first-party content to Wii U if the company hopes to find any success with its tablet-centric console.
