Epic Games Working on New Franchise

Epic Games, the studio responsible for iconic franchises like Unreal Tournament and Gears of War, has confirmed that it's working on a new IP.

Lead animator Jay Hosfelt broke the news during a GDC panel titled "Animation Bootcamp: Animation Prototyping for Games." Along with this exciting announcement, an early look at some concept art was revealed, showcasing a design that looks quite similar to the Samaritan tech demo the studio released a while back.

While no title or release window was provided, Epic did confirm that the game is being developed without a publishing partner. What does this mean? Well, there's a good chance gamers won't have to worry about any sort of platform exclusivity this time around.

Epic Games also has a title called Fortnite in the works, but details on it have been incredibly scarce ever since it was first revealed back in 2011. Here's to hoping it isn't dead.
