Just last year Electronic Arts acquired the exclusive rights to make big budget Star Wars games, and fortunately it looks like the publisher isn't taking that responsibility lightly.
According to EA's Andrew Wilson, the company will be looking at how Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have handled the Batman IP with the Arkham games for inspiration in how it moves forward in creating new titles set in George Lucas' beloved sci-fi universe.
Wilson told CNN:
What Warner Bros. did with Batman was take the core roots of that IP and manifest that inside the walls of Gotham City and delivered an interactive experience that had real ties to what you would see in the films and what you had read in the comics, while having its own life because it could provide such deep and more immersive storylines.
When we look at the Star Wars properties that's how we're looking at it. We're not trying to build a game that replicates the storyline of any particular film.
We know that Electronic Arts currently has a new Battlefront title in the works over at DICE, but the rest of EA's Star Wars-centric projects remain shrouded in mystery. What approach do you think the company should take? What new game experiences would fit well within this universe?
