Microsoft hopes to catapult their latest Kinect game, Kinect Sports Rivals, into your living room with the Kinect Sports Rivals World Championship which will challenge players around the world to hone their skills to score cash prizes or a trip for two to an exotic destination.
One lucky winner from Australia will win a trip to San Diego Comic Con. Once they are there, the Australian winner will face off against other winners from countries around the world. The ultimate winner will get a shot at $10K and a trip of a lifetime for two to one of four amazing vacations featuring water sports in Bora Bora, a walk on the Great Wall of China, a trek up Machu Picchu, or skiing in the Swiss Alps.
With games ranging from bowling to jetski racing, rock climbing to soccer, and target shooting to tennis, there are more than enough activities to get you and your family off the couch and into a rivalry that’ll last as long as you're still on speaking terms. Microsoft hope to sweeten the deal with a sizable cash prize pool, so you can still feel like a champion if you don’t make it around the world.
Second place gets $5,000 cash, while third place will nab $2,500 and fourth place will walk away with $1,000. Placing between 5th and 11th place will still nab you a $500 prize. The competition itself began online on launch day. You can go head-to-head with other players around the world until the competition ends in a live final championship in July at San Diego’s International Comic-Con, where players from around the globe will battle for glory and the grand prize.
This is the world’s largest motion-gaming competition and you can register at www.krsworldchampionship.com. Kinect Sports Rivals is available now in North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, while the title is out tomorrow in Europe. With the entire world locked in competition, things are bound to heat up ahead of summer and the grand finals.
