Nintendo’s Lightning Fast Wii U Quick Boot Menu Now Live [Update]

[Update] Nintendo's summer system update for Wii U is now live, allowing users to hop in and start playing their games much quicker, thanks to the new Quick Boot menu.

On top of this welcomed new addition, Nintendo has added a number of features that will no doubt come in handy when the console is in standby mode, including the ability to auto-download and install updates, as well as received GamePad alerts, all while the system is fast asleep.

[Original] In addition to revealing a Mario Kart TV app for smart phones, tablets, and computers, Nintendo has given more details on an update to Wii U hardware that will allow users to launch into their favorite games faster than ever before thanks to a new Quick Boot menu.

When you turn on your Wii U GamePad, you'll be presented with a menu screen of your favorite games and applications which you can jump into directly without loading some of the Wii U console's other applications like Miiverse and the gathering of Miis that appear on your TV when you turn on the Wii U console.

The video above shows off the process. The user chooses an application, a user profile, and launches into New Super Mario Bros. U. It seems a lot faster than the current Wii U start-up but we'll know more when Nintendo updates Wii U consoles everywhere this summer.
