Oculus Rift Will Be Available at Chuck E. Cheese’s

The kid-friendly restaurant Chuck E. Cheese's has announced, via press release, that it will be adding the Oculus Rift which it describes as "the hottest ticket in gaming" as part of its Virtual Ticket Blast Experience. The Oculus Rift will appear starting today in Dallas before moving to San Diego and Orlando within the month.

The success of the Oculus Rift during the six-week test in the previously mentioned three cities will determine its future inclusion. The headset will give users a 360-degree head-tracking view that will "feel as though they are inside the Ticket Blaster with Chuck E."

President of CEC Entertainment Roger Cardinale explains the reasoning behind the unusual partnership:

Kids today have unprecedented access to game consoles and tablets. Our challenge is to deliver an experience not available at home, and there is no doubt virtual reality does just that. Oculus Rift technology is the next frontier in the gaming industry, and we’re thrilled to be able to say it’s part of the Chuck E. Cheese’s lineup.

I only hope that the they all understand that a bunch of unruly kids with greasy hands will be using a headset that not only might be bigger than their heads, but likely costs more than their allowance for an entire year. The cost for repairs might be far greater than they might expect.
