2K Australia and Gearbox Software has released a narrated 15-minute gameplay video of the PAX East demo for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Voiced by James Lopez at Gearbo and Joel Eschler from 2K Australia, the footage shows how some of the game's features work in action.
The video follows a Level 27 build of Athena, who fans will recognize from the General Knoxx DLC, as she explores the moon with low-gravity jumps, a "butt stomp" AoE smash, and her special shield that can absorb damage (even friendly fire damage) and send that damage back at enemies. Her Wrath of the Goddess ultimate ability turns her shield into the equivalent of Xena's chakram by having her shield to bounce off multiple enemies.
The environment of the moon, which has been essentially turned into Australia in space, requires players to maintain a healthy reserve of oxygen that can be restores in oxygen pockets and generators. The oxygen will also allow players to boost in any direction, giving them an extra push to reach platforms. The two developers show off the new laser-type of guns as well as the cryo-elemental guns that freeze and shatter enemies.
I don't want to ruin the rest of the surprises, but the video also features a cameo of the robot boss Wilhelm as a human and one special class.
