Oculus Acquiring Design Team Behind Kinect, Xbox 360 Controller

Oculus has confirmed that it will be acquiring Carbon Design, the company famous for its work on Microsoft's iconic Xbox 360 controller as well as its motion-sensing camera, Kinect.

The VR company has apparently been working with Carbon for a solid year now on a number of unannounced projects, so the forthcoming acquisition is hardly coming out of left field.

"This is an entirely open product category," Carbon Design's creative director, Peter Bristol, said. "With consumer VR at its inception, the physical architectures are still unknown—We’re on the cutting edge of defining how virtual reality looks, feels, and functions."

Just a couple of weeks ago, Oculus announced that former THQ and Naughty Dog exec Jason Rubin was joining the team as head of worldwide studios. Suffice it to say there's no shortage of talent over at the VR company right now. Here's to the future!
