GaymerX2, self-described as a "gaming event for LGBTQ gamers and allies" and the second of its kind, will be ready to go starting Thursday, July 10, and will run until July 13 at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown San Francisco. GLaDOS and The Sniper humorously wish the convention a fabulous start in the video posted above.
Eight VIP guests dubbed "Bosses of Honor" will be in attendance, including WWE Wrestler Darren Young (real-life name is Fred Rosser), developer James Portnow who is also a writer on Extra Credits, BioWare head writer David Gaider, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Parsons professor Colleen Macklin, and Zach Weinersmith, creator of the comic Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. The event will include plenty of panels, an exhibition hall with vendors, several concerts, a cosplay competition, and open rooms for card, tabletop, and video games (special shout-out to the Golden Bay City Gym for Pokémon players).
The three-day schedule is jammed-pack with panels, featuring Gearbox Software with Randy Pitchford, BioWare with five developers who will speak about better dialogue in games in two separate sessions, and self-publishing for games as presented by Ouya. And no LGBT-centric convention can be without a masquarade ball dance party.
Registration opens Thursday at 6pm for attendees to collect their badge and is the same day that the GaymerX VIP Party will take place. The reduced rate for attendees at the Intercontinental Hotel is still available but they're almost gone. Three-day passes are $70-$80 while single-day passes will be $42.99.
Four other GR writers and I will be in attendance throughout the event, covering the various panels and the exhibition hall. Check out my video interview with GaymerX-founder Matt Conn. Keep it here on GameRevolution for news and features on GaymerX2.
