Nintendo Leads Vote of Japanese Gamers’ Favorite Developers

Japanese gaming website Freshers asked 500 people if they played video games and those that responded affirmatively were asked if they had a developer that they liked above others, but Nintendo handily walked away with the lead.

While the poll's sample size is prohibitively small (only 138 people answered yes when asked if they played video games and only 73 people answered yes when asked whether they had a favorite developer), the comments from individuals shed light on why these companies continue to dominate gaming in Japan.

Nintendo took first place with 30 votes, with men and women confirming that Nintendo's franchises drive their fandom. Square Enix took second place with 18 votes, with two respondents aligning themselves with Final Fantasy thanks to that franchise's "in depth playability".

Capcom took third place, Tecmo Koei took fourth, and Atlus took fifth place. One Atlus fan said "Games like Persona 3 and Persona 4 are masterpieces." Who are your favorite developers either in the west or in the east? For the full vote tally, click the link below.
