This Hellblade Dev Diary Provides a Proper Introduction to Ninja Theory’s Upcoming AAA Indie

Ninja Theory, the studio behind the upcoming action game Hellblade, has released a developer diary that provides an early glimpse at what gamers can expect from its upcoming "independent AAA" title.

Give it a look below.

According to a post on the developer's official blog, Ninja Theory is "embracing the creative spirit that comes with independence without letting go of the stunning production values that [they] are known for. It’s not indie, it’s not AAA. This is a third way. its independent AAA."

What does that mean, exactly? Well, "it’s about making a more focused game experience that isn’t trying to be all things to all people but satisfies a particular gaming itch," the studio explained. "It’s about being in command of our creativity so that we can give you what you want from us at a lower price." Sounds good to me.

Hellblade was revealed at Sony's gamescom press conference earlier this month, and while it may look like a sequel to the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, the dev team has made it perfectly clear that this is an entirely new IP.
