Xbox One Launch in China Delayed [Update: New Release Date Announced]

[Update] Microsoft has announced the revised release date for Xbox One in China, which was originally set for today. The big black gaming box will now launch in the territory on September 29.

"After receiving government approval for the first wave of games, we will launch with the first 10 games now and continue our work to bring more blockbuster games and a broad offering of entertainment and app experiences to the platform in the weeks and months to come," Enwei Xie, head of Xbox China, said (via Kotaku).

[Original] While Microsoft's initial plan was to launch Xbox One in China on September 23, the company has delayed its release to sometime later this year.

The Big M has not announced a firm release date following the news of this delay, but rest assured, it will be out before 2015 rolls around. "Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans in China," the company explained.

Xbox One launched in Japan a few weeks ago, and let's just say the console's release was rather anticlimactic. That said, corporate VP Yusuf Mehdi is optimistic about the console's performance in China, noting that he's "thrilled with the response [they've] seen in China, including pre-orders beyond [their] expectations and growing anticipation of [their] launch."

Do you think Microsoft's console will find success in China?
