Project Morpheus Nearing Completion, Says Yoshida

Project Morpheus, Sony's virtual reality headset and undeniable Oculus Rift competitor, is approximately 85 percent complete, according to Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida.

This wonderful nugget of news comes from the Wall Street Journal, who spoke with Mr. Yoshida. According to the outlet, the exec "declined to say when Morpheus would go on sale or how much it might cost," but did confirm that "Sony has finished 85% of the work needed to make the product available." Not only that, but apparently the company is looking to keep the cost down by using a lot of parts currently used in smartphones.

Project Morpheus was announced earlier this year at GDC. You can read about our hands-on experience with the device right here.
