Fans got a better look at one of the upcoming Silent Hill games on Tuesday, as the Silent Hill: Ascension trailer showcased how players will shape the canon of the iconic horror series.
What is Silent Hill: Ascension about?
The Silent Hill: Ascension trailer bills the game as an “interactive series,” and one that will retain a lot of the scares and grotesque creatures the series has come to be known for. The trailer ends with a brief vague release window of 2023, while not giving away too much.

Originally announced in 2022 alongside several other Silent Hill titles, Ascension is being developed by a handful of studios, including Genvid Technologies, Bad Robot Games, and Behaviour Interactive.
According to Genvid on their website, Silent Hill: Ascension will follow “multiple main characters from around the world” as they’re tormented by “new and terrifying Silent Hill monsters.”
The developer also notes that the decisions for what happens are fully in the hands of the players, making the game seem similar to other interactive horror games like Until Dawn and The Quarry.
“In Silent Hill: Ascension the actions of millions will determine the outcome,” reads Genvid’s statement. “By the time the last scene streams, which characters have survived? Will those who are left be redeemed, damned, or suffer? Even the project’s creators do not know how SILENT HILL: Ascension will end. Instead, the character’s fates are in the audience’s hands.”
