Redfall: The vampire hunters looking up at the sun.

Redfall Fans ‘Believe in Us,’ Claims Xbox Executive

Despite the poor reception, Redfall fans want the game to work so badly, according to a spokesperson for Xbox.

Fans are also “deeply passionate”

In a recent interview with CNN, Head of Xbox Creator Experience Sarah Bond said that Redfall players “believe in us,” despite the backlash when the Arkane title was released in May.

Bond adds that, even though the game wasn’t what fans had wanted or expected, what she actually sees from the community is “love”. The message reads that because players are so passionate, they wanted things to work out for the vampire FPS.

She goes on to say that it’s important for people to understand that it takes “years and years” to make great games. Given that Redfall had been in development since 2018, some may argue that it should have been in a better state upon release. The game was even delayed by Bethesda to improve the overall experience.

When it finally launched, Redfall was a major disappointment, with reports saying that the project was plagued with understaffing and a lack of direction. Many were left highly unimpressed with this latest Arkane offering, which had some of the studio’s DNA, but lacked a lot of what made its previous releases so beloved.

The game was also littered with bugs and poor AI, a critique that’s become all too common in this modern gaming era.

In spite of all this, Bond seems to be suggesting that fans really wanted Redfall to be a success. No doubt many were indeed looking forward to it, but with a Steam review of “mostly negative” and a Metacritic score of 56 and 53 on Xbox Series X and PC respectively, the results speak for themselves.
