If you’ve been waiting for Octopath Traveler 2 to come to Xbox consoles, you’ll be able to get your hands on it for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S soon. The Square Enix/Acquire RPG is coming to the Microsoft platform in early 2024.
Announced at this year’s TGS
The announcement came at Tokyo Game Show 2023, with a brief teaser showing that the Octopath Traveler sequel will be dropping on previous and current-gen Xbox systems next year.
The game was released at the start of 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. While there’s no finalized release date yet, the fact that it’s coming “early 2024” may lead some to speculate that it could drop on Xbox on the game’s anniversary. However, that’s just a theory.
The announcement trailer also states that Octopath Traveler 2 is coming to Windows. This may seem a bit confusing, as the game was released on PC alongside the aforementioned console ports earlier this year. However, this is now saying that the JRPG will be available via Windows Store.
The sequel takes place in Solistia, “a land comprising an eastern and western continent divided by the sea.” It was met with high praise, with Steam showing the game as “Overwhelmingly Positive” for all reviews.
Indeed, we gave it an excellent score in our own critique of the game, welcoming its new mechanics, gorgeous old-school visuals, and classic JRPG tropes. Though we weren’t keen on all the random encounters.
If you’re a fan of the original, be on the lookout for Octopath Traveler coming to Xbox consoles, hopefully within the next few months.
