Mojang’s Scrolls Finally Has a Release Window

Minecraft developer Mojang has announced that its upcoming game Scrolls will launch sometime late next month—at least, that's currently the studio's best "guesstimate."

"The guesstimate is late November," Mojang's Owen Hill told Touch Arcade, "but we’re not going to release it until it’s ready, if you know what I mean." The game is currently in beta, so at this point it's just a matter of pushing the game out in its final form.

That said, support for the game will continue post final launch, as the game's producer and artist Henrik Pettersson explained, "Final release’ just means we’re taking it out of beta, but we want to continue development after that."

Fans can also rest assured that the recent purchase of Mojang by Microsoft won't affect the studio's development. At least right now. "We’ve been so busy with our launch of Scrolls and scrambling to get everything ready, we’re just happy to hear that Microsoft won’t be changing anything in the short term,"  Pettersson added.

"They’re buying Mojang to keep Mojang working as it has been. There’s a good chance that the only effect is that we’ll have to add a Microsoft logo to the launcher or something."
