Announced back in 2021, MachineGames‘ upcoming Indiana Jones game revealed its first major trailer at this year’s Xbox Developer Direct. Subtitled “The Great Circle,” the teaser showcases all the fun-filled, high-octane action fans have come to love about the iconic film franchise.
Releasing on Game Pass as well
Set between the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade movies, The Great Circle will tell an original story, with the titular Dr Jones attempting to thwart a group who wish to harvest the power of a mysterious artifact.
The trailer does a pretty good job of giving us a taste of things to come, with the reveal of Indiana Jones, which uses Harrison Ford‘s likeness but is being voiced by Troy Baker of The Last of Us fame, himself as he’s taunted by a villain in the desert. While there’s no official release date yet, the game is due to come out this year and will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The trailer also says you can expect it on Xbox Game Pass from day one. Seeing as The Great Circle is being published by Bethesda – with Todd Howard down as executive producer – it’s not surprising to see it on Game Pass immediately.
Outside the LEGO franchise, we haven’t really had that many standout video game adaptations of Indiana Jones. The last one really was Zynga‘s Facebook title Indiana Jones Adventure World, which came out in 2011.
The fact that The Great Circle is being made by the developer of the modern Wolfenstein games and published by the Skyrim team should pique the interest of more than a few. So far, the new Indiana Jones game is shaping up to be the next big thing in AAA gaming.
