Stardew Valley Creator Not Planning on New Content Just Yet

The big 1.6 update for Stardew Valley went live recently, and it’s hard not to think about what lies in store for the farming simulator. However, the game’s creator has said he’s not planning anything new — at least not yet.

Plus, work on new game will carry on soon

In a recent interview with the Metro news site, Eric Barone – the sole developer behind Stardew Valley – has been speaking about the recent changes. After the 1.6 update on PC saw the game reach a new concurrent player milestone, many will be wondering what’s next.

Barone – who goes by the alias ConcernedApe – has said there are no current plans for new content at the moment. However, he’s quoted as saying he “wouldn’t be surprised if there was more in the future.”

There’s also the question of the newest project he’s been working on. While very little is known about it, Barone is also working on a new game called the Haunted Chocolatier. The developer has been keeping pretty quiet about things, but the recent interview suggests work may be continuing soon.

Once the Stardew Valley 1.6 update begins rolling out on other platforms, Barone is said to be putting focus on his new game.

As for the update itself, it was in the pipeline for two and a half years before it was finally released on March 19 for PC.

It brings with it a host of new content for the hugely successful indie title, including a new festival, new farm type, additional crops, enhancements to the sound and visuals, quality-of-life improvements, and so much more.
