Facebook vs. Google+: Dragon Age Legends

On their official blog, BioWare has provided an extended FAQ of their just-announced Google+ port of Dragon Age Legends on Facebook, which Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder of BioWare, explains can be "played cooperatively as you explore the Free Marches and progress your hero, or competitively against your friends in the Guild PVP areans". I'm dubious as to how successful social media sites really are when it comes to video game promotion, but there it is.

The FAQ explains that there is no difference between the Google+ and Facebook versions of Dragon Age Legends and that of course both versions are not compatible in most ways. However, since both games are tied to a player's EA account, there's no need to unlock items in both versions. Crowns can be purchased through Google Checkout (which doesn't accept PayPal for some reason). Also, with the exception of Dragon Age Legends: Remix 01 on Facebook, any in-game promo packs can be redeemed on Google+ even if they have already been redeemed on Facebook.

The team behind Dragon Age Legends, EA2D, will also be joining the BioWare team officially as BioWare San Francisco… which makes me want to take a BART train right now and raid their offices for treasure for interviews, of course.
