World of Warcraft: Legion 's reveal was surprising in many ways. Even the most believable rumors were far from the target, one that includes a reawakening of the spirit of Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King . With its exciting Artifact system, fast-paced Demon Hunter class, and setting in The Broken Isles, it's an expansion with tremendous potential.
There's a lot of information available for World of Warcraft: Legion , so much that it's been difficult to absorb it all. We have compiled a list of details that many fans have missed to help give them a clearer picture of what the next era of World of Warcraft is all about. You can see it in the gallery below.
10 World of Warcraft: Legion Details That Might Surprise You
The Artifact system has spawned from a canceled Cataclysm feature
Six years ago before Cataclysm released Blizzard talked about a new upgrade system it had in mind. It was titled Path of the Titans, and it was a system that allowed players to unlock various benefits as they completed quests, raids and more. rn rnDuring the first wave of Cataclysm 's beta the feature was cut to never be seen again. Six years later, it's been expanded in a much more refined way that foregoes a glyph-centric format for one that introduces noteworthy Artifact weapons. Using the system, players will earn valuable Artifact Power to unlock traits and improve the power of their weapon.
You can only enter the Class Hall for your class
Every class in the game will have its own Class Hall containing a Class Order specific to their class. Once you obtain an Artifact weapon, you will be able to lead the Class Order in their effort to battle the Legion's invasion. No other class in the game will be able to enter any hall other than their own. Blizzard hopes that this system will improve the sense of class identity in World of Warcraft .
Dalaran has been relocated to become the main hub
By the forces of powerful magic, Dalaran has been moved to The Broken Isles. It will become the main hub for Legion similar to Wrath of the Lich King . rn rnApparently, Jaina Proudmoore isn't so happy about the relocation. We will find out why through the storytelling experience.
Demon Hunters are remarkably mobile
Traversing the world as a Demon Hunter will be a unique experience. For one, they are able to double jump to reach places that other classes can't. When they'd rather go down than up they can employ a glide using their large wings, allowing them to surprise unsuspecting foes. These modes of transport in addition to exciting options unique to each of their three specs including Havok's combat teleport makes them a very flashy and fast-paced class.
Emerald Nightmare Will Be Your First Taste of Emerald Dream
One of the highlights of the expansion is its first raid, Emerald Nightmare. This seven boss raid is the first glimpse into Emerald Dream that players will get. Many fans of World of Warcraft have been wanting an Emerald Dream expansion for years, and this will serve as the first glimpse into the perfect imagining of the world by the mysterious Titans.
Garrisons are gone, replaced by Class Order Follower system
Perhaps Warlords of Draenor 's greatest failure was the isolated nature of its Garrison system. Although tons of work was poured into the feature, Blizzard isn't bringing it to Legion . rn rnThat said, the Follower system will be part of the Legion experience, only accessible at your Class Order. It's more refined than the previous iteration of the system employing a small elite group that you will work along with and see within the game world.
The major characters of the expansion
Several noteworthy characters will play a role in Legion . The heroes and villains include Anduin Wrynn, Dargrul the Underking, Genn Greymane, Gul'dan, Illidan, Khadgar, Maiev Shadowsong, Sylvanas Windrunner, Tidemistress Athissa, and Xavius.
Illidan is prepared to be redeemed as an antihero
As legend goes, lIlidan Stormrage's corpse was forever buried after the fight that took place atop the Black Citadel. However, his death didn't last, possibly due to Gul'dan freeing him. It is extremely unlikely that Illidan will play the role of an evil as we last experienced him, though. rn rnBlizzard has stated numerous times since Burning Crusade that it isn't happy with how it handled Illidan and his demise. He was never supposed to be a bad-spirited character, but rather a good guy who makes bad choices. All this information taken into consideration, you should expect to see Illidan displayed much closer to how he was in Warcraft 3 when he was one of the most admirable characters in the Warcraft universe.
PvP will have its own unique skills
PvP has an entirely new system in place for PvPers. Among its greatest features are PvP-centric skills that can only be used in battlegrounds and arenas. You will also progress through new honor ranks and be able to reset them at cap to be granted a Prestige rank along with cosmetic bonuses. It's a long-warranted overhaul that Blizzard hopes will make balance easier to achieve, and provide a more enjoyable landscape for competitive players.
Breaking free of class homogenization
Blizzard as well as players have noticed that over time World of Warcraft 's classes have evolved to become more and more like one another. It's a negative side effect of trying to achieve balance among spec competitiveness and quality of life. Blizzard wants to break free of this, and is using the new Artifact system to assist in doing so. rn rnFor example, the Hunter will have three Artifact weapons available. Those who spec into Marksmanship won't have a pet, those who love Survival will battle in melee, while Beast Mastery Hunters will play their traditional ranged role. It's a huge shift for the game's landscape, but one that Blizzard feels is necessary to individualize classes.
