10 Things You Might Not Know About WoW Legion

A whole new world has been opened up to World of Warcraft players this week. The Broken Isles have risen from the depths of the ocean following the birth of Legion, providing all-new areas to explore.

This new world has lots of neat features and secrets contained within. There are easter eggs, rare items, hidden quests, and much more. We've begun excavating it all and found 10 neat things that you should know about. You'll find them below.

1. Widescreen Loading Art

We've been requesting these for more than a decade, and they have finally arrived. For the past 12 years WoW has greeted you with a 4:3 image when loading. That has changed with WoW Legion.

All loading screens in The Broken Isles have widescreen art. This means that 99% of players will no longer have black bars on the side of the screen. It's a small change, but a welcomed one.

2. Heroes of the Storm's Murky Is Playable

There is a questline at the Shipwreck Cove in Highmountain which allows you to take control of Murky. This is a character who dates back to the early days of WoW where he was a pet unlocked by attending the first BlizzCon in 2005.

Blizzard has made the quest even more interesting by designing Murky's abilities to be the same as they are in Heroes of the Storm where he's featured as a playable hero. Murloc fans rejoice!

3. Transmogrifier In Dalaran

Head to the Enchanting shop in Dalaran to transmog your gear. This is near the Bank to the Western side of the city.

You will no longer have to head back to Stormwind for this service, and can look good as you run around The Broken Isles.

4. Class Exclusive Items

There are vendors around the world that will sell you special items for your class.​ Here are some examples:

• Death Knight: Dread Commander Thalanor in Ebon Hold.
• Druid: Lorelae Wintersong in Moonglade.
• Hunter: Mardan Thunderhoof in Nesingwary Base Camp, Sholazar Basin.
• Mages: Endora Moorehead in Dalaran.
• Monk: Master Hwang at Peak of Serenity.
• Paladin: Quartermaster Miranda Breechlock in Light's Hope Chapel.
• Priest: Quartermaster Miranda Breechlock in Light's Hope Chapel.
• Rogue: Cravitz Lorent in Dalaran sewers.
• Shaman: Elementalist Sharvak at the Throne of Elements, Nagrand.

Some items are useful toys, so be sure to head to yours when you have extra time.

5. Charlie the Unicorn Easter Egg

There is a neat easter egg in Azsuna. You can come across a diseased unicorn named Charlie, referencing the 2005 animated short, "Charlie the Unicorn", which now has over 27 million views.

He is even found on a mountain next to two other unicorns, very similar to his influence.

6. Hidden Artifact Appearances

One of the greatest secrets in Legion are its hidden artifact appearances. There is one unlockable skin per artifact/spec.

Made better, these skins are unlocked through very interesting optional content. For example, the Discipline Priest's requires you to find 12 hidden tomes around The Broken Isles. Meanwhile, the Protection Warrior's is found in a hidden cave. Several of these are very flashy, including Titan's Reach, which is seen above.

You can also unlock additional color variations for the appearance by using the appearance in a variety of content ranging from PvP to dungeons.

7. Rare Spawns Scale

While leveling in The Broken Isles you might feel compelled to kill any rare mobs that you come across for their attractive loot, including toys. You might want to think twice about that, though.

Rare spawns scale to your level. More importantly their loot can only be claimed once per character. What this means is that if you save all the rare mobs for level 110, you can head out into the world at level cap and quickly get some high item level loot. You may just want to save them for later because of this.

8. Legendary Armor

You might have heard about Legion's legendaries. There are many of them for each class and they are extremely powerful. Not only do they have great stats, but each one augments your abilities in a particular way, very similar to Diablo 3's legendaries.

You will not find any legendaries until you're level 110. They are randomly encountered, low percentage drops that can be found from the following content:

• Dungeon bosses
• Raid bosses
• World bosses
• World Quest Caches (rewarded after completing 4 world quests)
• PvP Strongboxes
• Mythic+ Weekly Caches

There is a system in place which will increase your chance of finding a legendary over time. This will ensure that you encounter them at a reasonable rate.

9. Destiny Xur Easter Egg

An easter Egg referencing Destiny can be found in Dalaran, to the left of the bank.

A vendor named Xu'los, named after Xur from Destiny, sells an item called Gjallar's Horn, strangely similar to Gjallarhorn, as well as other surprisingly familiar items. Shame that Destiny isn't yet available on PC.

10. Extra Artifact Effects

Some of the artifacts in Legion have special effects that you might not have noticed. Here are just some examples:

• Affliction Warlock's Skull of the Man'ari will speak to you occasionally.
• Disc Priest's Light's Wrath will occasionally proc Overloaded with Light, which will make your next Light's Wrath deal 500% damage.
• Frost DK's Blades of the Fallen Prince will encase you in ice when your character doesn't move for a long period of time.Shadow Priest's

The Restoration Druid's effect can be seen above. Every artifact weapon has a hidden perk, so be sure to find out what yours is.
