If there's one thing that's caught most of the gaming world by surprise this past month, it's how well the Nintendo Switch is selling. Although it was clear from the day it was announced that it has appealing use cases, its lack of software quantity or features led many to believe that it would struggle for its first few months on the market.
However, as we would learn from last week's NPD Group results for March 2017, the console is actually exceeding Nintendo's expectations. More than six weeks out from launch it's still being flipped for more than a 33% profit, and is outselling the competition more than 2:1.
The question remains as to whether or not the Switch can carry this momentum for a long period of time, but the fact that it's performing so well with very clear shortcomings does seem to point toward a bright future for the device. It also has a strong first-party line-up to finish off 2017.
By the time this generation is all said and done, do you think the Switch can outsell the PS4? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
