A Soul Reaver HD remaster has been teased by Crystal Dynamics, with the developer referencing the old original PlayStation series and teasing that more could be on its way.
Crystal Dynamics took to Twitter in order to post the following nod to their 1999 game Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver:
“I am Raziel, first-born of His lieutenants. I stood with Kain and my brethren at the dawn of the empire.” pic.twitter.com/bRTHhxIaAo

The game was a part of the Legacy of Kain series, with it receiving a 2001 sequel in the form of Soul Reaver 2. However, the series has since fallen by the wayside, with its last entry being 2003’s Legacy of Kain: Defiance. A multiplayer game set in the Legacy of Kain universe, Nosgoth, was cancelled in 2016 despite being in open beta.
Soul Reaver is widely regarded as the best Legacy of Kain game, with fans having requested a HD remaster of the PlayStation classic for years. Though some have suggested that this teaser could hint towards a brand new Legacy of Kain release, this seems unlikely given the relative obscurity of the series outside of those who were played it back in the ’90s, though a Soul Reaver HD remaster is certainly on the cards. Hopefully there’s more to this tweet than Crystal Dynamics simply referencing one of their older releases, and Soul Reaver fans will have something to look forward to in the near future.
