A Bunch of TGS Impressions Too Short To Be Their Own Updates

I've written several impressions of games I played at the Tokyo Game Show, and there are still a few more in the pipeline. However, there's just not a lot to say about some games. This post is for the games I played, but can't mine a whole lot of material from.

Atelier Totori Plus (Vita)

I waited in line, got that Vita in my hands, and promptly realized that I had never played the PS3 version of this game, and therefore had nothing to compare it to. Great job, Heath.

Let's Learn Chinese History (Vita)

I studied Chinese history with this and learned that China's most famous heroes looked like Japanese animé stereotypes. Who knew? I'll tell you who knew. NO ONE. because that's total horse shit and this is stupid.

Final Fantasy III (PSP)

You know the DS game? This is a port of it. Take that game, widen the camera to 16×9, add an image gallery and auto-battle. Now you have this. Still a battle every 3-15 steps, still one of the most grind-tacular FF titles, and doesn't seem worth buying again if you already have the DS version.

Disgaea Dungeon (Android)

Tap the screen to win. Total opposite of fun.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection (PS3, 360)

It's been a long, long time since I've played the PS2 games, but memories came rushing back even just watching the gameplay videos while waiting in line for this one. Those games are so fondly remembered because dammit, they just get it right. Zone of the Enders had tight controls, gorgeous visuals (even the PS2 versions still look good), and gameplay that stands the test of time. The animé sequences in the second installment still have that washed-out look to them that I never got into, but if you did, cool, it's still there.

Ys Celceta (Vita)

This remake of Ys IV is an action RPG with one character controlled manually and two AI companions, switching between them with the touch of a button. It felt a little bit like Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll for the PS3 in that way. Good music, good visuals, rad fun for RPG fans.

Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition (PS3)

It sure is Yakuza 1 & 2 and the visuals sure are HD now. They look like Yakuza 2.5. Maybe 3. If anything else is different, they weren't in a hurry to tell me about it and I didn't notice.

Guardian Break (Phones)

Nope.

Evangelion Solitaire (Tablets)

The guy was trying to pass it off like he invented solitaire. He just put Evangelion characters on the back of the cards. I'm pretty sure he wasn't the first guy to do that, either.

Street Fighter vs. Tekken Mobile (iOS)

The only "street fight" was between the phone and the street I wanted to throw it into.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS3)

Since people are bent on Smash Brothers comparisons, I'll say that I find the controls tighter and overall better in PSASBR. I want to love Smash Brothers because of how cool it seems, but I just can't get into it. This game, however, I rather enjoyed.

Lollipop (iPad)

I might be adding an extra 'l' myself, not sure.
